Louvre Museum is one of the oldest and largest museums in this world. It has the most impressive collection of historical arts and paintings. It is the most historical monument of Paris, France. It opens 10th August 1793 and exhibits 537 paintings on that time. Louvre covers 652,300 feet area. This museum contains 380,000 and displays 35,000 works of art. The museum is divided into some departments such as Egyptian antiquities, Near Eastern antiquities, Greek-Etruscan-and Roman, Islamic art, sculpture, decorative arts, paintings, print and drawing. In Egyptian antiquities department there are 50,000 pieces of artifacts. The museums newest spans are Islamic Art department; these department exhibits more than 5000 works includes glass, ceramic, wood, metalware, carpet, ivory, textiles, and miniatures. In painting department there are more the 7500 collections of paintings. This is the oldest department of Louvre museum. The famous painting The Mona Lisa is also exhibited in this museum.
